In my layered videos, I enact gestures of beauty rituals and habitual body monitoring from the ads and the media coverage that appear in my Facebook feed, in my Instagram feed, and in my spam folder. I create drawings from videos of myself performing these gestures. Using video projection or video compositing software, I layer the drawings back over the videos. Alter egos emerge.
